The goal of the Summit was to emphasize the role pest management professionals play as protectors of health and the environment, as well as show how to use "green" to increase revenue. Close to 200 cutting-edge professionals attended the Summit eager to access the growing market for green services. Attendees visited over a dozen exhibits by leading manufacturers; earned Green Specialist™ insignia and learned how to attain Green Shieldsm certification. The Entomological Society of America (ESA), the largest organization in the world serving the professional and scientific needs of entomologists and people in related disciplines, authorized Bug Off Pest Control Center to develop and deliver training for the Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) exam. The ACE Course was held March 25th in New York City. Over 100 attendees from the New York Metropolitan area, New England and as far away as Florida attended this special event. The Course covered the major categories of competency found in the exam and was presented by Joseph Barile, a Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) and ranking member of the Society.

It was therefore fitting for us to partner with Pest Control Magazine in presenting the Dynamic Duo Tour where both of these elements were addressed by such luminaries as Lloyd Smigel and Austin Frishman. Special 30-Hour Basic Training CourseThe NYC Parks Department contracted Bug Off Pest Control Centerto provide basic training for its new hirees in October, 2000. The 30-hour course prepared Parks personnel for the certification exams offered by New York State. Topics covered were label interpretation, safety, environmental protection, pest identification and biology, pesticide types and uses, equipment, application techniques, laws and regulations. The individuals who passed this course received a Certificate which allowed them to take the state exams.
