In an effort to assist in protecting the
integrity and the solvency of our social security system, I believe in these
ticket to work programs as they should translate to other states. To simplify a step by step
process,
Step 1:
disabled person receiving SSI or SSDI goes to their states rehab services office
and with the assistance of a counselor develops an IPE (individualized plan
for employment) based upon their needs. For (SSDI) the rules can be found at https://www.ssa.gov/work/ For both (SSI) and (SSDI) work incentives and how the Social Security Administration may help can be downloaded Social Security Working while disabled- How we can help may be downloaded http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10095.pdf Step 2:
with the assistance of your local city's ENCORE and SCORE programs supported by the U. S. Small Business Administration a mentor can be assigned to assist you in developing a business plan and market your services and/or products.
Step 3.
That business plan once passes requirements by your , a PASS Plan is
filed with the help of your local Center for Independent Living and local Security Office or by dialing (800) 772-1213.
Step 4.
Once PASS Plan is excepted, disabled person/client begins to work from
home making an income for a trial work period without affecting their
benefits and must be a sole proprietorship so as not to complicate the
process by involving shareholders or partners.
Step 5.
Legal counsel to assist the consumer/client is referred to your state Bar
for any legal guidance through this process.
Step 6.
At the end of the trial work period the consumer/client makes a
joint decision with their Social Security Office that they are successful and disability benefits
stop and we now have a permanently disabled person returned back to being a
productive working class citizen to our American workforce.
